The First Passover-Part 6
Earlier we learned that the Hebrew for feasts was the word Moed or better understood as appointed times. The scriptures not only instruct us to meet with God at an appointed time, they also instruct us that it is to be at an appointed place. God instructed His people to come to Jerusalem three times a year for the observance of these feasts.
Deut 16:16-17 (NKJV) Three times a year all your males shall appear before the LORD your God in the place which He chooses: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Tabernacles; and they shall not appear before the LORD empty-handed. 17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which He has given you.
There are seven feasts of the Lord, each of them are connected in some way to the three feasts mentioned in Deuteronomy. For this study we are looking into the fulfillment Passover, of the Feast of Unleavened Bread which is the second day of Passover, and The Feast of First Fruits. The Feast of Weeks and The Feast of Tabernacles will be covered at a later time.
God has proclaimed Passover to be a permanent celebration for all of eternity.14 The Israelites celebrated their freedom from Egypt and should have rehearsed yearly until the final sacrifice that would be fulfilled in Yeshua our Passover Lamb.
I think we are all familiar with the Exodus story where Moses lead the Hebrews out of Egypt and parted the Red Sea as Pharaoh pursued them. Without getting into all the details of this story, there are a couple of things that I would like to point out because it speaks to us about the importance of the dates of these appointed times. The first Passover lamb in Egypt was slain on the 14th of Nisan and the death angel struck all the first born sons of Egypt on that day. The final sacrificial Lamb Yeshua, God's first born Son was crucified on the 14th of Nisan which was the Feast of Unleavened Bread. The Hebrews left Egypt, a type of this world, by midnight which would be the beginning of the 15th. They were told to leave Egypt, a type of this world, with unleavened bread. Our sinless savior left this world and was in the sepulcher on the 15th of Nisan. On the 17th of Nisan the Hebrews crossed the Red Sea, just three days after the slaying of the lamb on the 14th. On the 17th of Nisan was the resurrection of Yeshua, exactly 3 days after His crucifixion. The 17th of Nisan was the Feast of First Fruits.
Then exactly 50 days after crossing the Red Sea on the first Pentecost, God gave to Moses the Torah on Mount Sinai. How awesome is this, counting exactly 50 days from the resurrection the Holy Spirit with tongues of fire was poured out upon the believers at Pentecost. This is why paying attention to the dates of the appointed times is so important.

Today we celebrate its fulfillment by looking back to the cross where He freed us from our Egypt i.e. the world and where His blood sacrifice paid the price for sin once and for all.
