The Seder- Intro Part 7
Yeshua, during this Passover season, spent His days in Jerusalem by day and in Bethany by night prier to the 14th of Nisan which was the first day of Passover. On this night however; He stayed in Jerusalem as it was required of every male.15 During Passover there are two Seder meals. A Seder is a ritual meal. In Yeshua’s day the first Seder was held on the evening of the 14th of Nisan and the second was held on the following evening or the 15th. In order for Yeshua to fulfill being the Sacrificial Lamb on the Feast of Unleavened Bread which was the next day, it would be necessary for Him to have His Seder meal on the 14th which began at sundown on the first day of the Passover.
The meal consisted of a perfect lamb that was to be roasted in fire and not eaten raw or boiled in water, unleavened bread, and bitter herbs, and four cups of wine. The lambs that were slain for the ritual meal were killed by the household members and not by the Priests. The Priests would kill a lamb for the Nation. The members of the household were to eat of the lamb until they were full. The entire lamb was to be eaten before midnight.16
The lamb is roasted in fire to represent Yeshua’s sacrifice. It could not be boiled in water because the word of God is not to be watered down. Everyone was to eat until they were full, because we are to taste and see that the Lord is good and that Yeshua is the only one that can satisfy our hunger. The unleavened bread also is representative of Yeshua because He was sinless, no leaven could be found in Him. Unleavened bread is Matzah. Matzah is striped and pierced representing the stripes upon His back and His hands, feet and side that was pierced for us. The bitter herbs represent the bitterness of slavery and the bitter experience of leaving Egypt to be free. The bitter herbs ultimately speak of the bitter experience Yeshua would endure upon the cross.
During the meal everyone is reclined at the table. Slaves always had to stand while eating, so reclining spoke of their freedom. The table itself is very low to the floor and it was U shaped. The father of the family or the host, and in this case the host was Yeshua, would have the oldest sit at His left and the youngest sit at His right. From this we can conclude that Judas was the oldest and that John was the youngest. John would have had the first seat on the U shaped table and it is believed that Peter would have had the last seat on the U shaped table directly across from John. It was customary for the last seat to be closest to the door, and it was the duty of the person sitting in that seat to keep watch in case of any trouble or intruders. Doesn’t it speak volumes why Peter sat there?

The invitation to come to “The Party” was issued by God and like all invitations to a party He indicated on what day the party was to be held and where the party was to take place.
As we have learned there were to be three parties every year. The first party or feast day was Passover and it was quite a celebration, it was to take place on the 14th of Nisan and it was to be held in Jerusalem.
