Rosh HaShanah-Chevlai shel Mashiach-The Time of Jacobs Trouble

It is for that reason that I do not agree that Rosh HaShanah which is only two days could possibly be the time of Jacob’s trouble.  I do believe however that it is probable that it is the feast day that begins the seven year tribulation, and perhaps this is why it became known as the birth pangs of the Messiah. Let’s see what Jesus had to say about this time.

When Jesus’ was asked, “What will be the sign of your coming and the end of the age?’  He answered them by referring to Cheviai shel Mashiach, the birth pangs of the Messiah.

Matt 24:4-9 "Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will deceive many. 6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.

The word for sorrows in this scripture would have been better translated “birth pangs” because the Greek word is odin which means birth pangs or travail..  When Jesus mentioned “birth pangs” His audience would have immediately begun to think of the many scriptures that referred to birth pangs and how those scriptures pointed to the time of Jacob’s trouble. Jacob is Israel and this time of trouble will be the worst time for Israel in her history. We know this time as the tribulation period.

Dan 12:1 "At that time Michael shall stand up, The great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people; And there shall be a time of trouble, Such as never was since there was a nation…

We must be careful to distinguish between the rapture of the Bride and Jesus’ second coming. There are many things that still must take place before the return of our Lord. That is not true of the rapture; the rapture is not placed after any historical event that still needs to take place. Everything points to Rosh HaShanah as day that the rapture will take place in some unknown year. At the time of the rapture, Jesus gathers His Bride to be with Him in heaven.  His second coming will occur when He returns to earth and sets His feet down on Mt. Zion.  He returns with His Wife to judge the nations of the earth which takes place at a later date.  Because Rosh HaShanah is also referred to as the “birth pangs of Messiah” I wanted to just briefly touch on the subject.  As I said Rosh HaShanah may very well be the time that the first contractions begin for a seven year labor that will birth Messiah onto the scene in Jerusalem.  An in-depth study on the tribulation and His second coming will follow at a later date.

The Time of Jacob's Trouble
Part 6

The time of Jacob’s trouble or the birth pangs of the Messiah is known in Hebrew as Cheviai shel Mashiach, which is another name for Rosh HaShanah. It was common to associate this day with the prophecies concerning the days of Israel’s suffering at the end of the age.

The time of Jacob’s trouble is commonly known as the 7 year tribulation.
9 Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake.

8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
