Cleansing of The Bride - Step 7                                    Previous Lesson

The bride would have a mikvah, which is a water immersion for a ritual cleansing.

The Hebrew word mikvah means pool or body of water.  It is a ceremonial rite of purification by the immersion into water.  It speaks of a separation from a former way to a new way of life. The mikvah was considered a spiritual rebirth. When mikvahs are done before the wedding ceremony by the bride it represents leaving an old life and beginning a new life with your spouse.  When God married Israel at Mount Sinai, God said to them in Ezekiel 16:8-9 …I sware unto thee…and entered into a covenant with thee…and thou becamest Mine.  Then washed I thee with water…

This parallel is a picture of our born again experience.  We are immersed in the Holy Spirit who is the immerser of God the Father.  We are born anew, leaving a former life of sin and having a new beginning born into a life of righteousness. As we follow Yeshua into the baptismal waters, our old live is buried with him and as we come up out of the waters, we are resurrected with Him and we identity that our new life is in Him. Yeshua (Jesus) our bridegroom is the Living Water that quenches our thirst and He is the Word of God that is continually washing us clean.

1Cor 6:9-11 (NKJV) Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
