Short History of Jordan
After the collapse of the Ottoman Empire King Abdullah I established in 1946 an independent homeland for the Arabs. King Abdullah I was the great great grandfather of Jordan’s current monarch. For two decades Jordan controlled the West Bank and East Jerusalem. This occupation shifted to Israel after the 1967 six day war that Israel won against all odds. These boundaries are in dispute to this very day.
The Israeli victory over the west bank and Jerusalem lead to a major influx of Palestinian refugees into Jordan. The uprising of the P.L.O. power structure in Jordan led to September of 1970, known as the Black September. It was the destruction of three international airliners hijacked and held in the desert east of Amman that prompted the Jordanian government to take action against the Palestinian refugees. The heavy fighting, against Syria and the P.L.O. caused Syria to retread. Then Jordanian forces won a decisive victory over the Palestinian refugees in July 1971, expelling them from the country. During the 1973 Israeli/Arab war, Jordan sent troops to Syria, fighting Israeli troops within Syrian territory. Jordan was the first Arab country to sign a peace treaty with the US. During the reign of King Hussein I, he and Yitzhak Rabin signed a peace agreement with Israel in 1994 that is still in operation today. Their respective countries share “The Dead Sea”. After the death of his father King Hussein I, his first born, the crown prince Abdullah II took over the rule of Jordan in 1999. The present government under King Abdullah II supports a two state peace solution for Israel.

Personal look at King Abdullah II Jordan’s Monarch Abdullah II was born in 1962. He is the eldest son of King Hussein I. who was instrumental in acquiring a peace treaty with Israel. King Abdullah II was educated in the US, was trained and served in the British Military. He served his country in the military as well, reaching the rank of major general. The Brotherhood in Jordan gains control through the election process and once in power will implement Sharia Law. Make no mistake about the fact that their goal is to have the Islam flag hanging over every country including these United States. Little by little they gain seats in the government through the election process. Jordan’s most recent elections were boycotted by the Muslim Brotherhood. King Abdullah II vowed to pursue democratic reforms after the "landmark" vote, and to reach out to groups like the Muslim Brotherhood that boycotted the election.

Possible boundaries for the Land of Israel as the Lord promised to Abraham and Moses.
What does the future hold for Jordan? As you can see by the map above, at some time in the future all of Jordan will be swallowed up by Israel. Abraham and Moses were given the boundaries for Israel which were to extend north to Turkey and as far south as a river in Egypt, thought to be the Nile. The Mediterranean Sea is its Western border and Israel’s Eastern border reaches as far east as Iran at the Euphrates River swallowing up much of Syria and Iraq. 2, 3
The Good News for Jordan is that a great revival of the nations is promised throughout the scriptures. The nation of Israel will look upon the one that was pierced and recognize Him as the Root of Jesse, the Messiah. The Jews will lead the greatest evangelical movement of all time gathering the nations of the world to bow to the Lord of Glory. Israel will subdue those nations that were previously their enemies with the truth of the gospel. Messiah will return and destroy the wicked that are remaining and bring “Shalom” to his creation.

The subject of this newsletter is in response to the “Word of the Lord” that I had received prophetically at the beginning of the year. I was told that I was to focus on the “end times”. After asking where we are on the time table of the end times, I was told to “keep my eyes on Jordan”. Therefore, this newsletter’s purpose is to draw attention to Jordan in this “end time” hour and how Jordan is related to the “time-clock” of the Lord which is Israel.

Meeting with the Jordanian Monarch
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently held top-secret talks in Jordan regarding possible methods for destroying Syria’s sizable chemical weapons stockpiles, including air strikes or a ground assault, but so far Amman is reluctant to put its weight behind such action. Are the prophecies of Isaiah 17 and Psalm 83 finding their fulfillment in our day?
Is 17: 1 “The burden against Damascus: Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a heap of ruins.”
Likewise we may very well be watching another ancient prophecy unravel.
Psalm 83 records an alliance of nations that will come against Israel to try and destroy her as a nation. Jordan is listed as one of those nations. To understand Psalm 83, a look at Jordan’s early settlers is helpful.
Ancient Settlers in Jordan The land that identifies modern Jordan was originally occupied by the Edomites, the Moabites, and the Ammonites. The Edomites were the descendants of Esau and settled south of the Dead Sea. The city of Petra is located where the ancient city of Edom once was. Edom can be characterized by its hostility towards Israel and its worship of the war-god, Qaus, pronounced Koze. The Moabites settled north of Edom and east of the Dead Sea. They are the descendants of Lots eldest daughter through an incestuous relationship with her father. It was from Mt. Nebo in the land of the Moabites that Moses over looked the promised land that he was forbidden to enter. Both Aaron and Moses were buried in the land of the Moabites.
Israel’s relationship with the Moabites caused Israel to fall into idol worship. Settling Northeast of Moab were the descendants of Lot by his younger daughter who had also had an incestuous relationship with her father. As Israel entered Canaan, the tribes of Rueben, Gad and one half of the tribe of Manasseh settled on the east side of the Jordan River, which is now the modern country of Jordan. Scripture records the Israeli men marrying the Moabite women and these women were instrumental in furthering the worship of Molech among the Israeli’s.
Psalm 83
“Keep not silence, O God; do not be speechless, and be not still, O God. For lo, Your enemies roar; and those who hate You have lifted up their head. They take shrewd counsel against Your people, and plot against Your hidden ones.
They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, so that the name Israel may be remembered no more. For with one heart they have plotted together; they have made a covenant against You--the tents of Edom,(Palestinians and southern Jordan) and the Ishmaelites;(Saudi Arabia) of Moab,(Palestinians and central Jordan)and the Hagarites; 1 (Parts of Syria, Iraq, Turkey) Gebal,(Northern Lebanon) and Ammon (NorthernJordan), and Amalek ;(Southern Israel and the Sinai) the Philistines (Palestinians) with the people of Tyre;(Southern Lebanon) and Assyria (Iraq and Iran)has joined with them; they have helped the sons of Lot. Selah. Do to them as to Midian, as to Sisera, as to Jabin at the torrent Kishon; who perished at Endor; they became as dung for the earth. Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb; yea, all their princes like Zebah, and like Zalmunna; who said, Let us take possession for ourselves of the houses of God.
O my God, make them like a wheel; like the stubble before the wind. As the fire burns a forest, and as the flame sets the mountains on fire, so pursue them with Your tempest, and make them afraid with Your storm. Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek Your name, O Jehovah. Let them be ashamed and troubled forever; yea, let them be put to shame, and lost; so that men may know that Your name is JEHOVAH, that You alone are the Most High over all the earth."
1 The Hagarites are descendants from Moses' wife Hagar who was from Egypt. However, ancient maps show her descendants did not settle in Egypt.
The research on the names of the modern day countries is based on where the named ancient territories were during the 10th century when Psalm 83 is thought to have been written. The map below shows how Israel settled among, Edom, Moab, Ammon, and Amalek. Everything to the East of the Jordan River is now the rather modern country of Jordan.
David Dolan’s January Newsletter from Israel Parliamentary elections were also held during January in neighboring Jordan, although the vote was boycotted by the increasingly powerful Muslim Brotherhood movement. Its leaders termed the election meaningless since Jordanian King Abdullah and his cronies will continue to actually rule the country, not any new Prime Minister that will be appointed by the King. This came as Jordan continued to absorb thousands of Syrians refugees fleeing the intense fighting tearing apart their Arab country.
