Ben Yehuda Street Jerusalem

A Lesson on Jewish Evangelism took place for me on Ben Yehuda Street in Jerusalem back in 1992 when I was in Israel for the summer.

If you watched the Lamb and Lion video, it was filmed on Ben Yehuda Street where I had an amazing encounter with God. I was in Israel with a bunch of students from Christ for the Nations on a three week missionary trip. However when it was time for the group to return to the states, the Lord spoke to me and told me to stay on in Israel by myself, which I did.

After Shabbat on a Saturday evening, Ben Yehuda Street is buzzing with people. Everyone congregates for fellowship; for coffee or ice cream. The shops are open and the musicians are playing. We were singing and dancing in the streets with our tambourines when a burly Jewish man came up to me and began to proclaim in my face; that I did not know what I was talking about. He rather angrily told me that Yeshua was not the messiah of Israel.

He went on to say, “Everyone thinks that they are messiah. Your Jesus was not the messiah. There’s a messiah here and there’s a messiah there, you’ll never convince me that Jesus is the messiah.” Actually I had not been trying to convince him…in fact I had not said one word to him…he just came over to me and became unglued.

I very calming said to him that I was not going to argue with him about whether or not Jesus was the messiah because I personally knew that he was.

I continued to tell him that I had not come to Israel to try and convert anyone to Christianity, but that I came as a Christian to show the Jewish people in Israel that there are Christians in the United States that love Israel and the Jewish people, and that I was one of them.

About that time a man appeared from the crowd, walked over to us, pointed his finger and shook it at the gentleman that I was speaking to and said, “You listen to her.” Then just as quickly as he appeared, he disappeared.

I have always thought that perhaps we had been in the presence of an angel. As this was happening, the Lord began to speak to me; He gave me a question to ask my new acquaintance, so I did.

“Let me ask you something,” I said. “Are you a praying man?” With a rather indignant tone, he answered, “Well of course, I am.” The Lord dropped another question to ask him into my mind.

“Well then,” I said, “If you are a praying man, have you ever asked God the Father if Yeshua is the Messiah?” With than single question, the countenance on this man’s face changed, as I watched the blood drain from his face in front of me.

He stood there dumbfounded for what seemed like an eternity. You would have thought that I had punched him in the stomach and he had to catch his breath. Finally, I heard him say in just a whisper, “No, I have never done that…but I will.” Then he turned and walked away.

And that's what happened on Ben Yehuda Street in Israel.

So from that day forward I have encouraged the unbelieving Jews that I have come in contact with to pray and ask the Father to reveal to them who the Messiah of Israel is, knowing that if their hearts are sincere, Father God will reveal to them their need to believe and receive Yeshua the Messiah of Israel and of all the world.

Pray for America!

I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, [and] giving of thanks, be made for all men;

For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peacable life in all godliness and honesty.

For this is good and acceptble in the sight of God our Savior.

Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus (Yeshua)

End Time Prophecy is being fulfilled exponentially in our day and at this time in history. The birth pangs that Yeshua spoke of are a daily occurrence, making headline news. There is a rather unusual phenomenal prophetic fulfillment happening as well, with little fan fair.

This month’s Newsletter’s emphasis is going to be focusing on this prophetic phenomena and what this ministry considers to be one of the most obscure end time scriptures and its content. That scripture is as follows, and says this, speaking of the end times.

Zephaniah 3:9  “For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.”

What is this phenomenal occurrence?  It is the revival of the Hebrew language. Could there be anything purer than the language of the Bible? The ancient language of Hebrew was basically dead, that is, it was still read in the synagogues and Jewish literature, but around 132 AD it ceased to be spoken. As the Jews were dispersed around the world, Hebrew began to be mixed with other languages; creating Yiddish in Germany and Ladino in the Mediterranean countries that spoke Spanish. However, Jewish and Christian scholars of the past believed that the language of the Hebrew Bible would be revived at the end of days. Not only has the language been revived but the interest in the Hebrew language is growing exponentially in these last days.

It is estimated that approximately seven million people speak Hebrew today. That does not account for the millions like me that dabble in the ancient language. Hebrew became the official language in Israel in 1922. After the Diaspora and the return of the Jews from all over the world to Israel it became necessary to have a national language to unite the Jewish peoples of the world.

The man responsible for the revival of the Hebrew language was Ben Yehuda. I remember when I first became interested in the language myself, I went to the Library and got his biography and read it. I was impressed with his passion or should I say obsession to revive Hebrew. The one thing I remember about the book was that he was insistent that in his home, Hebrew was the only language his family was allowed to speak. His son was the first born Jew in modern history to be raised speaking Hebrew from childhood.

Hebrew is a pictorial language.  Ancient Hebrew painted a picture with every letter. Let me encourage my readers to discover for themselves how exciting the study of Hebrew can be. Dr. Frank Seekins has a fascinating book and CD out called Hebrew Word Pictures. He teaches how the Hebrew alphabet reveals prophetic truths. This tool enhances the study of the word of God. Our ministrie's motto is: “Sweet Manna from heaven, hidden in plain sight.” And much is hidden in the Hebrew language that is waiting for your discovery. Check out the following links as you dig for your hidden treasures.

Yeshua would have said in Hebrew that He was the Alef and the Tav. The Alef is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, and the Tav is the last letter of the Hebrew alphabet. From this we can ascertain that Yeshua is the beginning of all things and the end of all things, and everything in between. He is seen at the beginning of The Book, throughout The Book, and at the end of The Book. He is the beginning of history and the end of history. The word picture for Alef is first, strong, and leader. The word picture for the Tav is sign, to seal, and to covenant. Therefore from this simple statement He wanted us to know that, Yeshua is the first born of many, He is the strong leader that will be the sign on the cross that will seal the covenant of God the Father.

Rev 22:12-13 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha (first letter of the Greek alphabet) and Omega, (the last letter of the Greek alphabet) the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Parenthesis are mine.
