Ben Yehuda Street Jerusalem
A Lesson on Jewish Evangelism took place for me on Ben Yehuda Street in Jerusalem back in 1992 when I was in Israel for the summer.
If you watched the Lamb and Lion video, it was filmed on Ben Yehuda Street where I had an amazing encounter with God. I was in Israel with a bunch of students from Christ for the Nations on a three week missionary trip. However when it was time for the group to return to the states, the Lord spoke to me and told me to stay on in Israel by myself, which I did.
After Shabbat on a Saturday evening, Ben Yehuda Street is buzzing with people. Everyone congregates for fellowship; for coffee or ice cream. The shops are open and the musicians are playing. We were singing and dancing in the streets with our tambourines when a burly Jewish man came up to me and began to proclaim in my face; that I did not know what I was talking about. He rather angrily told me that Yeshua was not the messiah of Israel.
He went on to say, “Everyone thinks that they are messiah. Your Jesus was not the messiah. There’s a messiah here and there’s a messiah there, you’ll never convince me that Jesus is the messiah.” Actually I had not been trying to convince him…in fact I had not said one word to him…he just came over to me and became unglued.
I very calming said to him that I was not going to argue with him about whether or not Jesus was the messiah because I personally knew that he was.
I continued to tell him that I had not come to Israel to try and convert anyone to Christianity, but that I came as a Christian to show the Jewish people in Israel that there are Christians in the United States that love Israel and the Jewish people, and that I was one of them.
About that time a man appeared from the crowd, walked over to us, pointed his finger and shook it at the gentleman that I was speaking to and said, “You listen to her.” Then just as quickly as he appeared, he disappeared.
I have always thought that perhaps we had been in the presence of an angel. As this was happening, the Lord began to speak to me; He gave me a question to ask my new acquaintance, so I did.
“Let me ask you something,” I said. “Are you a praying man?” With a rather indignant tone, he answered, “Well of course, I am.” The Lord dropped another question to ask him into my mind.
“Well then,” I said, “If you are a praying man, have you ever asked God the Father if Yeshua is the Messiah?” With than single question, the countenance on this man’s face changed, as I watched the blood drain from his face in front of me.
He stood there dumbfounded for what seemed like an eternity. You would have thought that I had punched him in the stomach and he had to catch his breath. Finally, I heard him say in just a whisper, “No, I have never done that…but I will.” Then he turned and walked away.
And that's what happened on Ben Yehuda Street in Israel.
So from that day forward I have encouraged the unbelieving Jews that I have come in contact with to pray and ask the Father to reveal to them who the Messiah of Israel is, knowing that if their hearts are sincere, Father God will reveal to them their need to believe and receive Yeshua the Messiah of Israel and of all the world.

Pray for America!
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, [and] giving of thanks, be made for all men;
For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peacable life in all godliness and honesty.
For this is good and acceptble in the sight of God our Savior.
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus (Yeshua)
